Executive Update: UN Global Compact statement on US decision to withdraw from Paris Agreement

On 2 June 2017, the United Nations Global Compact released a statement from CEO & Executive Director Lise Kingo on the decision of the United States to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. The Paris Agreement is a historic global accord to combat climate change and protect our planet for future generations. Though setbacks may try to impede climate progress, we will push onwards in the spirit of solidarity and unity that first brought the world together in support of the Paris Agreement.

Demand for business and human rights education is growing worldwide. Academic institutions are well positioned to prepare future business leaders to manage the human rights impacts of their companies. The UN Global Compact in collaboration with the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) are asking companies to sign an open letter calling on academic institutions to integrate business and human rights into their curriculum.
